launched in 2008, serves as a big continental trade show that brings together leather sector actors, leather and leather products exhibitors, sellers, buyers, investors, leather technologists, researchers, innovators, footwear and leather goods fashion and models, input, and equipment traders, as well as government representatives and conference participants from Africa & around the world.

  • ELIA is the owner and main implementer of the AALF.
  • ELIA has also been the main organizer of the trade fair for the past 15 years.
  • The AALF brand is registered in Ethiopia
  • To ensure the overall management and success of the Leather Trade Fair a Central Organizing Committee (COC) is established with a list of responsibilities.

Partners and Financing AALF

The AALF is implemented with participation from key stakeholders from the private sector, government ministerial offices, International and regional Development Partners and Knowledge institutions

With their important role the stakeholders are participated in the fair as co-organizers, partners, sponsors and exhibitors

The AALF is one of the association's key market & promotion intervention with all the necessary budget and resource support.

The fair is funded through the resources mobilized and generated from:-

  • Allocated Budget from the association
  • Direct budget support from ALLPI & UNIDO
  • Reasonable booth rent
  • Sponsorships
  • Journal advertisement: on the African Leather Journal
  • The fair is funding all costs by itself and sometimes generates additional income for the association which will be used to fund the next AALF.

Accordingly, the entire cost of the fair is covered through a reasonable booth rent, budget support, sponsorship and support from Development Partners.
